Srinagar, Apr 25 (KNO): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Haj Committee of India, Shanavas C. (IAS), on Saturday reviewed arrangements at the Srinagar Haj Embarkation Point as departures for Haj 2026 continue from Kashmir. As per the details obtained by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the CEO began his visit at the J&K Haj House, Bemina, where he inspected facilities being provided to intending pilgrims before their departure to Srinagar International Airport. He reviewed baggage handling systems, documentation counters and other facilitation measures put in place for pilgrims. He also interacted with several pilgrims and enquired about accommodation, refreshment and support services at the Haj House. During the visit, Shanavas directed officials to maintain proper hygiene standards and ensure round-the-clock assistance for elderly and specially-abled pilgrims. Later, the CEO visited Srinagar International Airport and inspected embarkation procedures, including immigration and security arrangements for the smooth movement of pilgrims. He reviewed the dedicated immigration counters set up to facilitate quick clearance and avoid delays in Haj flights. Officials informed the CEO that around 4,700 pilgrims from Jammu & Kashmir are scheduled to perform Haj this year. They said the departure process commenced on April 18 and is progressing smoothly with multiple flights operating in phases. During the review, the CEO stressed close coordination among the State Haj Committee, Airport Authority of India and security agencies to ensure hassle-free travel for pilgrims. “Our priority is to ensure that the journey of faith begins with comfort and dignity. The arrangements at the Srinagar Embarkation Point are satisfactory, and any logistical challenges will be addressed in real time,” Shanavas said—(KNO)
